May 2019 - “Stars for a New Millennium” part 1: Choosing Thread Substitutions

Tony Minieri has licensed the LHANG to use charts and directions for four different designs from “Stars For a New Millennium”. These four different designs were selected by the membership as projects for the 2020 Chapter Year. We will be discussing color ways and threads at the May meeting and then we’ll begin the first design in June.

The first one is “Vivian Leigh”.

If you have the book by Tony, please bring it to the meeting. Tony is allowing us to make copies of instructions as needed, so let Sandie J. know if you need them. This is open to all current members!

February 2019 - “Elegance”

Another cute ornament that’s quick to stitch. We’ve put together 3 different color ways to show you, or you can create your own!

“Elegance” is a quick and easy design that can be stitched multiple times in different colorways.

In the materials list, you will find the original threads as well as substitutes for these threads that will give the same finished colorway. Also listed are two others for you. The threads in the original instructions are no longer available, so substitutions have been made. You could use silks or cottons, ply up for more coverage or change the type of beads. It’s a versatile design that’s easy to customize!

To select your own colorway, start with the Watercolors thread to provide you with a variation. You could sub other overdyes as well.

The finished design measures 3” x 3” when stitched on 18ct mono canvas.
